On the 29th and 30th of August the Fiji National University hosted the Pacific Island Health Research Symposium on the Coral Coast, Fiji. The Symposium was the biggest conference of its kind in Fiji, and included presentations from students and academics from Fiji, neighboring Pacific Island countries, Australia and New Zealand. A diverse range of research topics were covered reflecting the burden of both communicable and non-communicable diseases in the region. A/Prof Jacqui Webster gave a keynote presentation on “Strengthening global health research impact: Learning from our work in the Pacific and globally” reflecting on her extensive work in measuring and reducing salt intake in the Pacific and lessons learned for translating research into policy and practice.
